I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist. I am experienced at helping people find creative, effective solutions to their challenges. Through my work in community mental health as well as with clients in my private practice I know that counseling is most effective when it recognizes and celebrates peoples’ strengths. These strengths, which I can help you identify, are valuable tools for healing.
Some of the topics that I help people with are:
Anxiety and depression
Addictions and recovery
Finding purpose and fulfillment.
I am respectful, optimistic, and experienced. I celebrate diversity and work with LGBTQA and straight people, as well as with people who do not identify in any of these ways. I am also comfortable working with people who experience symptoms of controlled mental illness, such as hearing voices.
If you are curious about art therapy, we can find ways to use it to support your growth and progress. It’s important to know that you do not need any artistic experience (or “talent”) to benefit from art therapy.
I invite you to take a look at my website for more information about me and my approaches. The posts on my Facebook page, Steve Hohenboken Counseling and Art Therapy, may also be useful for you. If you have questions, please also feel free to schedule a free initial session for us to talk about how I can support you.
